This month, we’re excited to celebrate the past six years of Rubrik and the tremendous growth we’ve experienced along the way. At Rubrik, we’re committed to building a long-lasting company that relentlessly prioritizes our customers’ needs at all stages of our journey. 

Our most recent fiscal year, which ended January 31, 2020, welcomed many new customers across industries who rely on Rubrik to manage, govern, and orchestrate critical data across data centers and cloud. As our customer base crosses 2,500 enterprise and government customers, it’s clear that Rubrik brings much-needed innovation to the market and is solving some of the toughest data protection challenges modern organizations face. 

Since day one, we’ve focused on engaging with our customers to understand how we can remove the friction from digital transformation and enable them to maximize value from their backup data. Our ability to execute on this vision has been recognized in the market. Rubrik was named a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Data Resiliency Solutions, Q3 2019, a report that evaluated 10 vendors based on 40 criteria. Despite our short time on the market, we achieved the highest possible score in the strategy category, with among the highest scores in the security and backup optimizations criteria.

For customers, Rubrik delivers measurable benefits such as improved business resilience, increased IT agility, cost savings, and accelerated recovery from cyberthreats like ransomware. Results like these are why leading companies are turning to Rubrik, including a number of Fortune 100 companies. At the end of this fiscal year, we hit a $600 million annualized gross bookings run-rate, and nearly half of our bookings coming from customers spending $1 million or more to date. 

Enterprise and government organizations also rely on Rubrik as a reliable recovery solution to drive cyber resiliency, especially as threats like ransomware grow increasingly sophisticated and frequent. Rubrik for Ransomware delivers instant recovery with the industry’s only natively-immutable backups. When paired with global search and API-driven automation, customers can quickly recover complete data centers after a Ransomware attack. Polaris Radar, Rubrik’s SaaS product for Ransomware, adds ML-powered detection and pinpointing of Ransomware attacks for faster and more accurate remediations, which in turn reduces business disruption.

We also expanded our Polaris SaaS offerings with applications to help enterprises manage their on-prem and cloud data while utilizing this data for new, business-centric use cases. These applications include Rubrik for O365 protection and Polaris Sonar for integrated identification and reporting of sensitive or regulated data. In addition, to address the specific needs and pain points of large enterprises, we launched Rubrik Andes 5.0 and 5.1. Rubrik Andes addresses the specific needs of large enterprises with benefits such as: 

  • VMware certified Continuous Data Protection solution for near-zero RPO,
  • Data Classification for Data Compliance and Governance,
  • Database backup/recovery and cloning automation,
  • SaaS-driven Cloud Native Application backup & recovery, and
  • Unprecedented performance for very large NAS environments, and integration with NetApp SnapDiff.

Building off of our product innovations, to better address the requirements of enterprise customers, Rubrik also introduced new consumption models that delivered flexibility and reduced risk through subscription-based licensing, software-only licensing, and license transferability to Cloud. Customer demand for new subscription offerings introduced in FY2020 has grown rapidly, with subscriptions accounting for nearly half of bookings by year end.

We also know that delivering cutting-edge solutions is only part of the equation for success, which is why we have also continued to invest in our award-winning customer experience. We’re proud to achieve a NetPromoter Score of 82 and set a new industry standard for customer success. 

And finally, we hired several veteran industry leaders across Product, Engineering and Sales who will help us continue our business momentum. These hires include Vinod Marur as SVP of Global Engineering, Chendong Zou as VP of Engineering, and Thomas Cornely as VP of Products. We also on-boarded Brett Shirk and Wendy Bahr as Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Commercial Officer.

Rubrik increased its commitment in the EMEA and APJ markets, recruiting new senior leadership and opening offices in Singapore and Tokyo. We also hired new leadership in the U.S. Commercial, Enterprise and Public Sector teams to better serve our broad array of customers.

Our innovation is in large part due to the intimate conversations we have with customers that provide us with deep insights and help us build cutting-edge, first-to-market solutions. We are humbled by the continued support from our customers, partners, and community and know that this is just the beginning of our journey together.
