Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) is often a challenging feature for software companies to support, given the complexity that can be involved in finding the right version of the OS, re-applying patches to the correct leave, finding and reinstalling drivers for specific hardware, reinstalling the backup agent, or remembering the disk partitioning configurations and recreating them. 

To address these challenges of BMR for Linux, Rubrik looked towards the open source project Relax-and-Recover (ReaR), which simplifies what was once an extremely complex process. Rubrik’s BMR design eliminates storage configuration complexity, increases operational efficiency, and simplifies restores, among several other advantages.
