2014
Rubrik is founded with a vision to disrupt the backup and recovery space with a new, flexible platform built for cyber.
2015
Converged Data Management is released, a major innovation in the industry that radically simplified data management and redefined the backup and recovery market. Rubrik raises $51 Million in Series A and B funding.
2016
Rubrik expands to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa following rapid North American growth and increasing customer and partner demands. The company raises $61 million in Series C funding to boost vigorous sales momentum.
2017
Rubrik is on pace to be one of the fastest growing enterprise infrastructure companies, with a global run rate approaching $100M in just 6 quarters of selling. The team celebrates being named a Visionary in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery solutions.
2018
John W. Thompson (former Chairman of the Board at Microsoft) joins as a Rubrik board member and John Chambers (former executive chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems) joins as a Board Advisor.
2019
Rubrik expands new Bangalore, India development center to attract top engineers and drive product innovation. The company raises $261 million Series E funding at a $3.3 billion valuation.
2020
Over 1,600 Rubrikans around the world work to secure the world's data. The team is recognized for its leadership and culture, including LinkedIn Top Startup and Forbes Cloud 100.
2021
Rubrik launches the first-ever Ransomware Recovery Warranty offering to underscore its deep commitment to data security for thousands of customers. Microsoft makes an investment in Rubrik and builds the strategic partnership.
2022
The team is thrilled to be certified as a Best Place to Work and named a Top Workplace, with an additional four cultural excellence awards, and is named on the Inc. Best in Business list. Rubrik continues to lead the cybersecurity industry, introducing Rubrik Security Cloud and releasing Cyber Recovery as well as Threat Hunting and Containment.
2023
With more than 5,000 customers, Rubrik surpasses $500 million in subscription ARR. The team is once again recognized as a Top Workplace, with an additional five cultural excellence awards, and certified as a Great Place to Work.
2024
Rubrik celebrates a decade of growth and innovation and is focused on making a meaningful impact for years to come. Thank you to our team, customers, and partners!
2025
Rubrik closes its first full year as a public company with subscription revenue up 54% year-over-year and ARR surpassing $825 million. The company acquires Predibase to accelerate agentic AI from pilot to production and completes a $1.15 billion convertible notes offering to fund what's next.
2026
At Forward 2026, Rubrik launches Rubrik AI and Annapurna, extending cyber resilience to the AI agents and unstructured data now driving the enterprise, plus Rubrik Agent Cloud for Anthropic's Claude Code and Claude Cowork. Gartner names Rubrik a Leader in its Magic Quadrant for the seventh year running, and the company relaunches its brand around Agentic Cyber Resilience.

Bipul Sinha
CEO, Chairman + Co-Founder
Bipul Sinha is the Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Rubrik, the Zero Trust Data Security Company. Under his visionary leadership, Rubrik has pioneered advancements in enterprise cloud data management, helping global businesses secure their most critical digital assets against sophisticated ransomware threats.
Prior to founding Rubrik, Bipul was a partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, where he focused on enterprise IT and software investments. He has held several executive engineering roles at Oracle and holds an MBA from Wharton School, and a B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur.

Arvind Nithrakashyap has decades of experience building storage, databases and distributed systems. He led the real-time ad infrastructure team at Rocketfuel and started his career at Oracle where he co-founded the Exadata storage platform.
Kiran Choudary
CFO
Kiran leads the finance, IT, product operations, and workplace teams at Rubrik. Most recently, Kiran served as VP of Finance & Strategy at Atlassian and contributed to the company’s successful IPO in 2015. Prior to Atlassian, Kiran served as VP at Goldman Sachs, advising clients in the technology industry on capital raising and M&A. Earlier in his career, Kiran led software development teams at Oracle. Kiran holds an MBA from Wharton and engineering degrees from MIT and the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
In 2014, Rubrik's co-founders did something the industry wasn't doing: they looked at the world's most critical, most neglected problem in technology—the gaping hole in enterprise backup—and built for it. The legacy backup vendors at the time were built for natural disasters and human error, not cyber. Nobody was engineering for the threat that was actually coming.
