“ The difference between a DR event and a CR event is intent. Hurricanes don’t hunt for soft targets, but attackers do. DR happens to you. CR is done to you to cause harm, so your recovery has to withstand the blast.”

Professional Journey

Michael Ambruso began his career in IT in 1992 and has focused on data protection since 2000. Before joining World Wide Technology in 2022, he worked at Dell as a data protection solutions engineer, at EMC on data protection and virtualization, and at IBM Global Services in backup and systems administration. Across more than three decades he has worked with everything from mainframe tape libraries to fully virtualized environments, building roughly a decade of technical sales experience along the way.

Experience with Rubrik

Years ago, during a competitive evaluation for a large hospitality enterprise, the solution Michael was representing lost to Rubrik, and the gap in ease of use and speed of installation was hard to ignore. Rather than write it off, he studied why Rubrik won and became a champion for the platform at WWT. That firsthand experience, watching Rubrik outperform under real evaluation pressure, still shapes how he designs Rubrik architectures for customers today, especially when they are weighing platforms the way he once did.
