Today, LinkedIn has announced its 2018 Top Startups list, and we’re excited to be featured as #10 among many other innovative companies. The list highlights the 50 most sought-after startups to work for based on data from the LinkedIn community, focusing on four core areas: employment growth, engagement, job interest, and attraction of top talent.
This achievement comes at time when Rubrik is experiencing unprecedented growth. In just four years, we’ve exploded to over 1,200 employees across 30 countries. We also recently added two industry veterans to our ranks, with John W. Thompson, Chairman of Microsoft, joining as a member of the board and John Chambers, Chairman Emeritus of Cisco, as a board advisor.
But even amidst this growth, we’re committed to staying true to our core values and empowering employees to do their life’s best work. Here are some ways Rubrik is redefining company culture:
Building Game-Changing Technology
At Rubrik, we know that engineers want to be challenged and build new technologies that solve big problems. This year, we launched Rubrik Polaris, the industry’s first SaaS platform for data management applications. In July, we released the Rubrik Polaris app Radar, which leverages machine learning to detect and analyze security threats and accelerates recovery by quickly pinpointing attacks.
Radar’s unique, multi-leveled approach to security, and impact on how organizations address Ransomware threats, won it two Best of VMworld awards: the Gold Award for Security and Best of Show. We’re thrilled to have our ambitious teams continue to innovate and develop applications that help enterprises unlock new value with their data. By the way, this was the third Gold Award and second Best of Show we’ve collected at VMworld in just 4 years as a company.
Exhibiting Radical Transparency
Radical transparency is built into the very fabric of Rubrik, and we believe it is a big driver of our rapid growth. You won’t find any cubicles here–we’ve built a peer-based culture that’s all about collaborating in an open environment, whether you’re a brand new summer intern or a senior VP.
Our co-founders have instilled a culture of radical transparency through board meetings that are open and by sharing our success and challenges with all employees. The tone of these meetings isn’t How do we make board members happy? but rather How do we build a long-lasting company? Transparency has helped foster a culture of trust, a willingness to ask questions regardless of title, and the ability for everyone to make better, faster decisions.
Corporate Social Responsibility: Rubrik Beyond Work
Since the earliest days, our CEO Bipul Sinha has underscored the importance of our company values – Relentlessness, Integrity, Velocity, Excellence, and Transparency (RIVET).
Last month, we took these values a step further with our new corporate social responsibility program, Rubrik Beyond Work (RBW). Through RBW, Rubrik will devote an annual fund and 1% of employee time annually to giving back. Our first official event was held at VMworld US 2018 with the Thompson Family Foundation (TFF), an organization founded by Golden State Warrior “Splash Brother” Klay Thompson and his family. Through our “free-throw fundraiser,” and with a little help from Klay, we raised $30,000 to benefit youth athletic and academic programs.
At Rubrik, we’re obsessed with giving back to our customer, employees, and partners, all of whom are foundational to our success. We prioritize our core values and know that employee engagement drives the future of the company. That’s why we’re honored that LinkedIn has recognized our efforts for the second year running and look forward to finding more ways to innovate corporate culture.
