Introducing Rubrik Alta 4.2: Purpose-built for the Enterprise Hybrid Cloud

As enterprises undergo digital transformation, many have embraced hybrid cloud by hosting their applications on a blend of infrastructure platforms, including private cloud, public cloud, and traditional data centers. This trend shows no signs of slowing down, with over 90% of enterprises expected to use multiple cloud services and platforms by 2020.* Today, we’re thrilled to help solve the biggest challenges of the hybrid cloud enterprise with Rubrik Alta 4.2. Our newest additions simplify how organizations manage and protect data across their hybrid cloud deployments, whether they are building on AWS or other environments. Here are the key highlights of our new offering: Cloud-native Data Protection Through a Single Control Plane As enterprises look to deploy more applications on AWS, many are burdened with complex and fragmented legacy solutions. Alta 4.2 makes it easier to protect workloads running on AWS EC2 through Rubrik’s cloud-native backup and lifecycle management capabilities. To do this, we use native AWS APIs to take snapshots of the EBS volumes and add core Rubrik services, including Google-like search, policy-driven automation, and instant data access. Our customers can also leverage this feature to instantiate a replica of any EC2 instance in another AWS availability zone or region–with just…

Rubrik Protects UNIX: AIX First in Line

From the outset, Rubrik has focused on being a one-stop solution for all enterprise data management needs. In a short time, we have expanded our footprint to support over 20 platforms and workloads that are business-critical for our customers. Some of the best feedback we hear is from  backup admins who can sleep peacefully knowing that their data is automatically being protected and meeting SLAs. In the past three years, we have breezed through a lap of supporting modern enterprise workloads – major virtualization systems (VMware, Hyper-V, AHV), physical hosts (Linux, Windows) and databases (Oracle, SQL Server). But when speaking with our customers, we found that many enterprise users want Rubrik-level simplicity for their legacy workloads that are still the workhorses for their mission-critical production systems. A significant number of our government, finance, and insurance customers run UNIX systems for deploying databases and applications that form the core backbone of their computing infrastructure. These customers are forced to use legacy backup vendors who are known for their complexity. Most new-age data management solutions have chosen to ignore these legacy workloads despite their towering importance to enterprises. Rubrik, whose DNA is rooted in its  customer obsession, has decided to take the…
