Extended Cloud Protection

Rubrik Andes 5.3 makes cloud adoption even easier with expanded protection for cloud-based technologies:

Microsoft 365

We know that our customers are incorporating more SaaS applications, and in turn, increasing investments to protect that data with SaaS solutions. Rubrik’s protection for Microsoft 365 is built on our SaaS platform Rubrik Polaris, allowing for low-latency communication, reliable data access, and rapid product iteration. With Rubrik, simplify and automate backups to enable long-term retention and supplement Microsoft 365 native protection capabilities. 

Ditch manual data protection with Rubrik protection for OneDrive, which enables recovery in just three clicks. Avoid restoring unnecessary data with Rubrik’s ability to search and recover the exact files you need. Not only does our approach provide more robust protection for Microsoft environments, but it's all done with a unified platform—goodbye clunky, siloed data protection. With built-in audit reports and a central control plane, you can centralize visibility and standardize protection.

In the future, we will also be introducing protection for SharePoint & Teams, as well as a new dashboard to give you a comprehensive view into the status of your environment, enhancing visibility into compliance, storage capacity, and protected users within each application.

VMware Cloud on AWS

Rubrik has long delivered hybrid cloud protection for VMware workloads across on-premises and the cloud. Andes 5.3 introduces additional support for VMware Cloud on AWS, bringing automation to even more of your VMware ecosystem—all with the same protection policies designed for your on-premises environment. 

Take the guesswork out of proxy deployment, since Rubrik will provide image-based VM backup for workloads running in VMware Cloud on AWS. We’ll automatically deploy, delete, and adjust proxy VMs sitting in the data center to optimize for what your environment needs.

Cloud-native Protection

Our native protection of cloud workloads provides simple, automated data protection and ensures that critical data is always secure, easily visible, and recoverable. With Andes 5.3, we’re expanding those functionalities:

Amazon RDS: 

Rubrik automates protection for your cloud-native databases running on AWS. Assign SLAs down to the RDS instance level. Rubrik also protects transaction logs for seamless point-in-time recovery, minimizing data loss with recovery in minutes.

Google Cloud Platform:

Simplify backup across hundreds of Google Cloud Projects across one or more Google Orgs with Rubrik’s SLA policy engine. Rubrik scales auto-protection for Google Cloud instances across multiple projects via native support for Google Cloud labels. Users can also automate cloud-native backups for instances via native integrations with Google Cloud APIs.

Cost Optimization

We know you don't want to just move to the cloud--you want to make sure that you're doing so in the most cost-efficient manner possible. Rubrik’s 5.3 release also ensures you get more control over costs in the cloud:

Archival Performance Enhancements

We know you want to download full snapshots from the archive as soon as possible. With Rubrik Andes 5.3, we free up your available cloud bandwidth to make snapshot downloads up to 3x faster.

Instant Tiering for AWS

Many of our customers use archival for long-term retention and compliance use cases. In these cases, you would expect to seldomly access data uploaded to the cloud. For this reason, you probably leverage the cheapest storage available. But in the event you do have to access data, you still need to quickly search and initiate recovery. 

Rubrik Andes 5.3 expands your choice of storage class in AWS with new support for Glacier and Glacier Deep Archive, allowing you to send incremental-forever backups to inexpensive cold storage. Glacier Deep Archive can reduce storage costs for you up to 23x compared to storing data in S3 Standard class.

In the event that you do have to retrieve that data, Rubrik still offers rapid search and recovery in the same workflow. You also have the option to pay cloud vendors more for expedited data retrieval.
