About Team & About Role

The Rubrik design team is made up of product designers, visual designers, researchers, and UX writers from all walks of the industry and life. As our company and our products grow rapidly, it is crucial to scale the user experience of our product and our design team in the right way and with the right people. Every hire counts!

Our VP of Design, Oded Klimer, is seeking a Hybrid Staff UX Writer & Team Manager for our growing UX Writing team. In this role you will guide the team as well as directly contribute to delivering a consumer-grade enterprise experience through concise, engaging, and helpful UX copy.

Here’s a recent demo of our award-winning UI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxORWF_7cfc

You are a good fit for this role if you are able to do (most) of the following:

  • Curate clear, friendly, crisp and engaging messaging for our product’s UX Copy.
  • Maintain and help evolve content standards for our product. Ex. Voice & Tone guides.
  • Socialize and enable others in the product organization to understand and adopt content best practices.
  • Identify areas of improvement for language in our product. Recommend, test, and validate those changes.
  • Work closely with the UX research team to understand our customers and make sure their needs and abilities are taken into consideration.
  • Connect product language with marketing language by ensuring that terminology is consistent and language is both clear and compelling.
  • In conjunction with our technical writing team, manage our product glossary of terms, disambiguating synonymous terminology and ensuring consistent usage throughout the product.
  • Conceive of, socialize, research and write UX copy for complex feature initiatives that are critical and have a broad impact to Rubrik.
  • Seek out difficult impediments to our efficiency as a team (process, tooling, etc), and propose and implement solutions that will enable us to work more efficiently.
  • Work with different stakeholders to promote and influence the agenda across the organization (Up and down).
  • Collaborate with PMs and Designers to execute and test new patterns and solutions.
  • Develop and track quarterly goals ensuring they align to fiscal year priorities. Define discrete metrics appropriate for UX Writing contributions.
  • Reduce obstacles for your direct reports by addressing friction points in process, collaboration, strategy, or interpersonal stress that affect their ability to do their work. Coach direct reports to better understand when to escalate to leadership or how to better address issues on their own.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • 7+ years of relevant hands on experience in composing engaging content, 2+ years leading teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience on user-focused product writing for complex domains.
  • A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines.
  • Experience with localization and accessibility best practices in relationship to content.
  • Passion for getting things done the ‘right way’ and in a consistent manner across the product.
  • Comfortability with ambiguity; you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done—and then doing it!
  • Growth Mindset approach. You look at problems with curiosity and are excited to learn and grow your skills.
  • Strong verbal, presentation, conflict resolution, and written communication skills.
  • Require little formal direction and bring with you a broad history of best practices from your past roles and experience.
  • Create formal networks with key decision makers and senior leadership.
  • Establish yourself as a thought leader across design and product teams.
  • Invest your resources in measuring you and your team’s work, and using those learnings to improve the team as a whole.
  • Direct and prioritize the activities of a significant agenda while managing a group of UX Writers.
  • Support team development through coaching and reviews.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

For government reporting purposes, we ask candidates to respond to the below self-identification survey. Completion of the form is entirely voluntary. Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.

As set forth in Rubrik’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law.
