About the team
Product Security Team: Securing Rubrik’s Platform

The Product Security Engineering team is responsible for building innovative security-focused features and frameworks for large scale data management products. We are looking for a senior manager to lead two engineering teams (Shield - IAM and Shield - Platform) composed of talented software engineers in delivering security features as well as fostering a culture of security in the wider engineering organization.

To be successful in this role, you’ll mentor your team, collaborate effectively with cross-functional leaders, and work closely with Product manager and TLs to define the team’s roadmap.

The problem space is wide (covering the entire Rubrik portfolio) and deep (from performant core backend architecture to easy-to-use product experiences) and has an exciting roadmap for the coming years with tangible business impact.

Our mission is to secure the platform, building industry standard security features and frameworks customers expect and innovative security features customers appreciate.

The immediate area of impact is:

Platform Security:

  • Encryption framework
  • Certificate management framework
  • Hardening of Platform(s)
  • Zero-trust architecture implementation and enforcement
  • Secure development life cycle including security reviews

Identity & Access Management:

  • Login Security features: MFA, Password Policy, Passwordless login etc..
  • Integrations with third parties: SSO, LDAP, etc.
  • Comprehensive Role-based access control (RBAC) framework
  • API authentication and authorization frameworks
  • Session management and token lifecycle

What you’ll do

Strategic Leadership:

  • Build and drive the product roadmap to deliver a reliable, robust, and secure product that is industry leading
  • Partner with Product Management to define security requirements and prioritize features based on customer needs and threat landscape
  • Collaborate with Security, Compliance, and Architecture teams to ensure alignment with company-wide security initiatives
  • Drive technical decisions and architectural choices that balance security, performance, and usability

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and grow two high-performing engineering teams (8-10 engineers total), creating a culture of transparency, innovation, and security-first thinking in a fast-paced environment
  • Mentor engineers, providing career development guidance and technical coaching
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard top security software engineering talent
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to drive individual and team growth

Technical Excellence:

  • Ensure delivery of highly secure, scalable solutions that meet enterprise customer requirements
  • Drive adoption of security best practices, secure coding standards, and threat modeling
  • Oversee security architecture reviews and design decisions
  • Champion automation, testing, and CI/CD practices within the security domain
  • Stay current with emerging security threats, technologies, and industry best practices

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Product Management to translate customer security needs into technical requirements
  • Collaborate with Customer Success and Sales Engineering to address customer security concerns
  • Partner with Compliance team to ensure products meet regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams to integrate security controls across the platform

Experience & qualifications you’ll need

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in security
  • 3+ years of managing software engineering teams
  • Deep security knowledge in platform security (encryption, certificates, operating systems)
  • Demonstrated initiative in enhancing security postures and driving security-focused projects
  • Experience in delivering highly scalable, secure solutions across multiple groups.
  • Managing teams in dynamic, startup-like environments
  • Experience cultivating strong, high quality engineering practices and processes
  • Experience working with product manager and customers

  2. Obligations. You will hold in confidence and will not possess or use (except as required to evaluate the proposed business relationship) or disclose any Confidential Information except information you can document which (i) is in the public domain through no fault of yours, (ii) was properly known to you, without restriction, prior to disclosure by Company or (iii) was properly disclosed to you by another person without restriction.   6. Disclaimer. Confidential Information is provided to you “as is” and the Company makes no warranties with respect to the Confidential Information or any materials provided by the Company.  In no event will the Company be liable for the accuracy or completeness of the Confidential Information.  You understand that nothing herein (i) requires the disclosure of any Confidential Information of the Company or (ii) requires the Company to proceed with any transaction or relationship.  You understand that this Agreement does not obligate the Company to disclose any information or negotiate or enter into any agreement or relationship.
  7. Miscellaneous.  The terms of this Agreement will remain in effect with respect to any particular Confidential Information until you can document that such Confidential Information falls into one of the exceptions stated in Section 2 above.  You acknowledge and agree that due to the unique nature of the Confidential Information, any breach of this Agreement would cause irreparable harm to Company for which damages are not an adequate remedy, and that Company shall therefore be entitled to equitable relief in addition to all other remedies available at law.  This Agreement is personal to you, nonassignable by you, governed by the internal laws of the State of California and may be modified or waived only in writing signed by both parties.  If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable, such provision will be limited or deleted to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining terms remain in full force and effect.  The prevailing party in any dispute or legal action regarding the subject matter of this Agreement shall be entitled to recover attorneys’ fees and costs.
