Job Summary
About the Team
Watchers is a core platform team in Rubrik’s engineering organization, focused on providing high-impact visibility and observability for our customers. Our infrastructure processes billions of data points, tackling significant performance and system-level challenges in collaboration with most of our modern Cloud product teams. If you are an admin responsible for backups, you probably want to know if your backups are running as configured and to be notified if something breaks. That’s where our products come in. Without us, Rubrik would be a black box.
About the Role
As a software engineer on the Watchers-Reports team, you’ll be responsible for the architecture and development of the Reports framework. This is a large-scale, distributed system that powers our pre-canned and custom reports. You’ll work cross-functionally to understand the reporting requirements of new features and build monitoring capabilities that address the needs of our most sophisticated customers. This team at Rubrik plays a vital role in providing observability and key insights that customers rely on for the security and availability of their data.
What You’ll Do:
- Build reporting and monitoring features and frameworks that operate on data produced by Rubrik products and are used by our customers daily.
- Design, implement, and evolve critical large-scale distributed systems, collecting, handling, and analyzing data from thousands of clusters.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on new reporting features and frameworks, processing and visualizing live and historical data, as well as audit and other operational events.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and address similar database query issues.
- Work on end-to-end project design, including resource usage analysis, functional and non-functional requirements, and performance investigation.
- Participate in on-call rotations for internal and external triage, and collaborate with customer support teams to debug and resolve customer issues, utilizing tools such as SignalFx, Tableau, and logz.io.
Experience & Qualifications You’ll Need:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with backend or full-stack software development.
- Experience in Software Development in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to Java, C/C++, Python, Scala, or Go.
- Experience with front-end frameworks and technologies (Eg; React.JS, Angular.JS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript)
- Experience building and interacting with APIs (GraphQL, REST, gRPC).
- Experience with relational (SQL) databases.
- Strong software engineering skills, including design, implementation, testing, and performance tuning.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write technical documentation and deliver presentations.
- Comfortable working in a cross-geo dev team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD degree, further education, or experience in engineering, computer science, or other technical-related field.
- 1+ years of backend or full-stack software development experience.
- Experience in architecting and developing large-scale systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of data encryption, authentication, key management, and other security system issues.
- Experience with cloud technologies, including AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and adapting to changing business requirements.
