About the Team
The Kubernetes Engineering team is tasked with developing innovative features and frameworks for large-scale data management products, specifically focusing on the solution for protecting customer's Kubernetes workloads, encompassing both native applications and VMs on Kubernetes. We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead the Kubernetes engineering team, which holds ownership of Kubernetes native protection and Kubevirt-based VM protection. This role involves managing a group of talented software engineers to deliver data protection features and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence across the wider organization.
About the Role
Success in this role requires you to mentor your team and collaborate effectively with cross-functional leaders. You will partner closely with the Product Manager and Technical Leads to define the team’s roadmap, and work in conjunction with Support and Sales to ensure customer success. A deep understanding of both containers and virtualization is necessary. You will continuously evolve our product while driving the team's motivation to embrace the world of AI.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Lead the Kubernetes engineering team to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing features.
- Drive execution of complex and ambiguous technical problems aligned to business priorities
- Champion operational excellence, build a proactive, resilient on-call culture that emphasizes prevention, efficiency, and learning
- Actively participate in technical discussions and architecture reviews, demonstrate fluency in the system design.
- Build and drive the product roadmap to deliver a reliable, robust, and secure product that is industry leading
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams, creating a culture of transparency, innovation in a fast-paced environment
- Mentor engineers, providing career development guidance and technical coaching
- Foster a mindset of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard top software engineering talent
- Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to drive individual and team growth
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Product Management to prioritize the engineering backlog into product requirements
- Exceptional decision-making abilities, with experience influencing senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with Customer Success and Sales Engineering to address customer concerns and operate with a customer first mindset.
- Coordinate with other engineering teams and drive alignment with company-wide initiatives
Experience You’ll Need:
- 6+ years of experience in engineering
- 2+ years of managing software engineering teams
- Demonstrates growth mindset with an intrinsic technical curiosity.
- Strong track record of delivering large scale, resilient distributed systems and services.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience in distributed systems and databases.
- Managing teams in dynamic, fast-paced startup-like environments
- Experience cultivating strong, high quality engineering practices and processes
- Experience working with product manager and customers
- Experience in Kubernetes and data protection is a plus.
