Job Summary

About Rubrik and the team

The Enterprise AI team is Rubrik’s internal AI enablement engine. We evaluate where AI can make a real difference, build the platforms and patterns that make adoption easy, and help engineering teams across the organization work smarter and faster. We operate at the intersection of applied AI, distributed systems, and enterprise operations — our job is to make Rubrik more efficient, one AI-powered workflow at a time.

The India engineering hub is a critical pillar of this team — driving platform development, connector builds, tools administration, and global support operations. This role will lead and grow the India engineering presence, ensuring tight alignment with the US-based leadership team while building a high-performing local team.

About the Role

As the Sr. Manager, Platform Engineering — India, you’ll lead Rubrik’s India-based AI engineering team, owning platform development, MCP connector builds, tools rollout and administration, and global L1/L2 support operations. You’re a seasoned engineering leader who combines deep technical expertise in AI/ML systems with proven people management skills. You’ll hire and develop a world-class team, drive execution on critical platform workstreams, and serve as the primary India-side engineering leader for the Enterprise AI organization.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead the India AI engineering team — hire, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers and support specialists, establishing India as a center of excellence for AI platform engineering.
  • Own platform engineering workstreams — drive development of AI platform components including control plane features, skills framework, web applications, versioning, and diagnostics tooling in close partnership with the US platform team.
  • Lead connector and integration development — manage the build-out of MCP connectors and integration layers that enable AI agents to work with enterprise systems across Rubrik.
  • Drive tools rollout and administration — own the global rollout and ongoing administration of AI tools (Glean, Claude Code, Cowork), ensuring smooth deployment, user onboarding, and operational readiness.
  • Manage global L1/L2 support operations — establish and run support processes that provide responsive, high-quality support for AI tools and platforms across the global organization.
  • Ensure cross-site alignment — work closely with US-based leadership to maintain tight coordination on priorities, architecture decisions, and delivery timelines across time zones.
  • Continue supporting existing AI products — maintain and improve existing tools and products including Coby, Rubreak, and SmartInsights.
  • Drive engineering excellence — establish development standards, code review practices, CI/CD processes, and operational runbooks that ensure the India team delivers production-grade work.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an engineering management role leading teams of 5+ engineers.
  • Strong technical background in backend/platform engineering — distributed systems, API development, cloud-native architectures (GCP and/or AWS).
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML systems in production — LLM integrations, agent frameworks, or ML platform development.
  • Proficient in Python and/or Go; able to contribute technically and credibly review code and architecture decisions.
  • Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent in the India market.
  • Experience managing teams that work cross-site with US-based counterparts — strong async communication, documentation practices, and overlap management.
  • Experience with support operations — building L1/L2 support processes, SLAs, escalation paths, and runbooks for internal tooling.
  • Strong collaborator and communicator who can partner effectively with senior leadership, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with high ownership — comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building or managing MCP servers, AI agent ecosystems, or developer platform teams.
  • Familiarity with modern AI development tooling — Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI-powered coding agents.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Track record of scaling an engineering team from a small group to a larger, multi-function organization.
  • Experience with enterprise tool administration — managing licenses, access controls, usage analytics, and vendor relationships for developer tools.
  • Background in cybersecurity or data management enterprise software.

Why Join Us

  • Take on a broad and strategic leadership role with high visibility across global teams.
  • Help shape the infrastructure strategy for one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies.
  • Join a culture that values trust, boldness, technical excellence, and innovation.
  • Be part of a leadership team that invests in people, platform, and long-term vision.
