Job Summary

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Systems Engineering team in Rubrik's Developer Platform organization owns the reliability of Rubrik Cloud Data Management (CDM) and RSC-P products. Our customers trust Rubrik to recover their data on the worst day of their year. We make sure the software holds up under that pressure, at scale, over months of continuous operation, and in the face of failure.

We build the infrastructure and pipelines that let product teams validate stress, scale, longevity and resilience, and we own the call on whether a release is reliable enough to ship. We work with component teams, product management and release managers to build reliability early, rather than inspect for it at the end.

What we own

  • Release reliability certification. We own the reliability decision behind every CDM and RSC-P release, based on evidence from the platforms and pipelines we build.
  • Stress, scale and chaos platforms. We build the infrastructure and pipelines for these validations, and give product teams self-service tools so they can validate their own work without waiting on us.
  • Extreme-scale simulation. We build simulators that reproduce very large customer environments cost-efficiently.
  • Long-running, customer-like environments. We operate and evolve clusters that run for months and mirror real customer deployments, so we find longevity problems before customers do.
  • AI-driven triage and reliability. We build triage agents that investigate bugs, incidents and alerts, and we apply AI across our own workflows to speed up detection, diagnosis and certification.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As Senior Manager of Systems Engineering, you will own how Rubrik proves its products are reliable before customers depend on them.

  • Own release reliability. Be accountable for the reliability call behind every CDM release, and make ship-or-hold decisions with release managers and component leaders.
  • Drive the qualification roadmap. Set one roadmap for release workflows and fast build qualification, improving both quality and speed.
  • Build self-service platforms. Lead the engineers building our stress, scale, chaos and longevity infrastructure, simulators and long-running environments, so component teams can validate their own work.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing team. Build a culture of transparency, innovation and security-first thinking in a fast-paced environment. Hire, coach and retain engineers across geographies.
  • Run the team with operational rigor. Set a clear operating rhythm (sprint planning, stand-ups, regular reviews), keep the bar high, give direct feedback and hold the team accountable for delivery.
  • Run on metrics. Track certification cycle time, customer-found escapes, triage time and infrastructure cost, and act on them.
  • Reimagine reliability in the AI era. Use and promote AI and emerging technologies in the team, in line with the Company and Engineering vision, including AI-driven triage and automation, and measure the results.
  • Partner broadly. Align priorities with component leaders, product managers and program managers, and communicate with stakeholders at every level.

ABOUT YOU

You are a results-oriented leader who cares about enterprise software quality and about building strong teams.

  • 12+ years in the software industry, with hands-on experience building and delivering enterprise-grade products as both an individual contributor and a manager.
  • 3+ years leading teams of software or systems engineers, with a track record of delivering high-quality enterprise releases.
  • Technical depth in distributed systems, test infrastructure, or release and reliability engineering.
  • Experience hiring and building top-tier teams, including teams spread across geographies.
  • Experience building engineering practices, processes and operational rigor.
  • Track record of communicating clearly and influencing across engineering, product and executive leadership.
  • Ability to execute in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • AI-forward leadership: proven use of AI to improve your own work and your team's, for example by building or adopting AI agents and tooling that measurably cut triage time, speed up infrastructure and pipeline delivery, or automate release workflows.
