Munich, January 24, 2017 – Rubrik, the world’s first Cloud Data Management Company, announced today that Galliker Transport AG deployed Rubrik’s data management solution. The logistics provider based in Altishofen, Switzerland provides logistics services throughout Europe for a wide range of products including notable car manufacturers. The portfolio includes temperature regulated transport services for the pharmaceutical, medical, as well as the food industry.

Due to its growing business, the existing backup solution couldn’t keep up with the pace of the new dynamics. As an innovative company, the team transitioned to a 100 percent virtualized data center. To ensure business operations could run smoothly, Galliker Transport needed a modern and reliable data management solution. The existing solution was too complex to manage the backups, and there were issues regarding storage allocation and support.

After an extensive evaluation process, Rubrik was the right solution for the company’s demands. Rubrik eliminates backup software with its Cloud Data Management Platform that consolidates deduplicated storage, catalog management, and data orchestration in a single, scale-out-fabric. Rubrik simplifies backup, disaster recovery, and data archival in existing IT environments.

Rubrik was deployed within 20 minutes, and all SLAs were configured within one hour. The key benefit is the significant time savings provided by automated management. “With Rubrik, the time spent managing backups have been reduced from 2 hours a week to minutes. With automated management, I don’t have to worry about my backups. We haven’t had a single SLA that hasn’t been fulfilled,” said André Dousse, Team Leader of IT infrastructure at Galliker Transport. Dousse said, “Our RPO is 2 hours on our most important machines. Rubrik is much faster than 2 hours. With instant recovery it takes only seconds.”

Rubrik was also faster and simpler to integrate with Nutanix, the solution used in their primary environment. “There is no impact on the production system either. Another benefit is the reliable archiving to correspond with compliance demands and legislation. Because of legal issues, we are not allowed to use cloud services such as Amazon AWS. This is a challenge for many companies in Europe. Rubrik solves this problem by allowing us to keep data locally on the Brik for 5 years and then archive through NFS to a NAS storage system, Synology. This is especially important since we have sensitive data that we need to keep for years.”

Rubrik’s global search feature was also strong as Dousse said, “Data search is very important to our business. For some services, we must keep products in a defined temperature. In order to show that we comply with these requirements, we need to find that data very quickly, whenever and wherever it is stored. With Rubrik, we can search at the file-level, even if we have just the tracking number, date of shipping, or part number.”
Galliker Transport is already planning to extend the use of Rubrik in order to fulfill the business plans of the company. Rubrik will be deployed for disaster recovery and for the software-only appliance, Rubrik Edge, to replicate data to the central server.
